Issue 1: Reflections ‧ May 2024

Archivenal is a literary magazine for new voices from the writers of RPW (Role-Play World). The editors have never believed that there was one single way to write a piece. We’ve never espoused a moment or club. We’ve never observed a word limit. We think that every good piece, a poem, story, or an essay writes its own voice and lets readers understand human condition on its own devising.
That’s the idea behind this literary journal. It is not a greatest hit anthology. Instead, the writers of Archivenal wrote a pieces that captured their experience fictionally or nonfictionally. Some chose to write about their past. Some chose to write about what changed them. And some chose to write about a piece that were new even to us.
Our hope is that this collection will be useful to young writers, especially from RPW, and to others interested in the idea of stepping outside their script to reflect. Most of all, it is intended for readers who are not (or are no longer) in the habit of reading bits patches of literature. We hope these reflections will remind them how varied experience can be, how vital it remains, and how much pleasure it can give. ✦
